Zazu was actually a casted character but he was played by Edward Hibbert in the sequel. Dont know why though...
they might have asked rowan to play but various personal reasons might have stopped him from doing it. maybe certain people in the directing and casting decided the movie as a whole would be better off. go and ask him, or someone involved, no harm. i didnt even notice so,,, (or did i) well i don't notice now.
