Why does Peeta Mellark call Katniss a mut?

Peeta calls Katniss a mutt because the Capitol tampered all of his memories of her using a type of torture called Hijacking. One of his memories must have mutated, and in the new form she must be a type of mutt genetically engineered by the Capitol.

What is the conflict of the first Hunger Games book?

The conflict is Katniss must compete in the Hunger Games, where she must survive being hunted down and she has to kill Peeta, who gave her bread when she starved.

How is the theme trust represented or revealed in the hunger games?

Trust is a theme in The Hunger Games, because Katniss is always questioning who is actually on her side throughout the entire series. For example, if you kiss the wrong person, you might end up stabbed or shot. If you have read the books, you should know that she only questions people's trust in the arena and when District 13 and The Capitol are at war.

How does her early encounter with Peeta affect their relationship after they are chosen as tributes?

That depends. What do you mean by first event? If you mean the cornucopia, then it makes Katniss become angry/annoyed at Peeta. If you mean when he joins the Careers, then it makes Katniss hate Peeta and wish for his death. If you have a different event in mind, you need to be more specific.

What happens in The Hunger Games in chapter 15?

Chapter 14 begins just after Rue points to something above Katniss' head in the tree where Katniss is staying; the Careers are at the bottom of the tree that Katniss is in. It's a nest of tracker jackers, a muttation from the Capitol, killer wasps. Katniss decides to try and drop the nest on the Careers so that she can make her escape. She realizes she'll have to saw the whole branch off and send it down to the Careers. She does this during the anthem, but doesn't finish and decides to continue at dawn. When she returns to her sleeping bag, she has received her first gift from a sponsor; medicine for her burned calf. The next morning, she send the tracker jacker nest down into the group of sleeping Careers. The tracker jackers attack; Peeta and a few others bolt for the lake, but Glimmer and the district 4 girl are left behind. The district 4 girl is out of sight but Glimmer is killed by the killer wasps. Katniss climbs down from the tree and tries to take the bow and arrows from Glimmer before the hovercraft takes Glimmer away. Peeta returns and yells at Katniss to run just as Cato comes back; Peeta saves Katniss' life. She trips into a pit full of ants and blacks out.Chapter 15 picks up the next afternoon when Katniss wakes up. She now has Glimmer's bow and arrows. She finds a stream and drinks, washes her arrows and herself. Then she shoots a wild bird and begins to cook it before she hears a twig snap. It's Rue. Katniss offers to form an alliance. Rue gives Katniss some leaves for the tracker jacker stings, and Katniss gives her some of the burn medicine. They learn a bit about each other and begin to formulate a plan to get rid of the Careers' food.Chapter 16 starts with Rue and Katniss planning their attack on the Careers. Rue's been spying on the Careers a little, finding out that they've set up camp beside the lake and they've been leaving the district 3 boy as a guard. Rue tells Katniss about how there's a lot of mockingjays in district 11.Rue and Katniss finish their plan by lunch and are ready to carry it out soon after. They set up two piles of wood for campfires. Rue will do the third by herself. They set a meeting place for afterwards. Rue teaches Katniss her mockingjay song as a signal, and they split up.When Katniss reaches the lake, she hides in the bushes so that she can easily observe the Careers' camp without being spotted herself. She sees Cato pointing and knows that Rue's lit the first campfire to draw the Careers away from their camp. Katniss can hear the Careers arguing about whether or not the district 3 boy should come with them or stay at the camp. She hears someone asking about Peeta, and Cato keeps saying, "I know where I cut him" and "It's a miracle he hasn't bled to death yet." Eventually the Careers decide that the district 3 boy is going with them, and they set off, leaving the camp empty. Katniss sits there for a while, trying to figure out how to get rid of the supplies. She's about to reveal herself and start towards the supplies when she sees Foxface creping out onto the plain. Foxface runs for the pyramid of supplies. At a certain spot she stops and begins to place her feet more carefully in strange little steps. At one point, she falls on her hands and squeals, but nothing happens.Foxface fills her pack with a few crackers, a few apples, but not enough to tip off the Careers that some things are missing. Then she disappears into the woods again.Katniss thinks for a while before deciding that the area around the supplies is a minefield. She discovers that the district 3 boy must have reactivated the land mines around the starting plates from the beginning of the games. She finally comes up with a plan. She moves into range and takes aim. The first arrow she shoots tears through the side of a burlap sack of apples. The second widens it, and the third sets the apples free. The apples spill to the ground and the mines start going off with the end of chapter 16.
