The Hobbit contains many human characters, including the men of Laketown, most notably Bard the Bowman. Gandalf appears in human form, but he is not a human.
Frodo Baggins is the main hobbit character, due to the fact that the greatest burden is placed on him. There is a lot of discussion about who the hero is in The Lord of the Rings. Many believe that Sam is the hero, the one who represents every man. In The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo is definitely the main hobbit, as we hear mostly his thoughts and feelings. The same goes in the Two Towers. However, Sam is the main hobbit in the Return of the King, as he is the only one left to continue the quest and he saves Frodo and things are seen from his point of view.
No it's real. And Ian McKellen doesn't play Dumbledore, only Gandalf :)
Answers like this are always difficult to give when you consider what we know about Gandalf not only from the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, but also from the Silmarillion. While it is doubtful that Gandalf would have known where choosing Bilbo would lead not only the group, but the entire world, it can be argued that he may have suspected that important things were destined for that little Hobbit. Gandalf had powers that we cannot completely understand so, while it may seem random that he chose Bilbo for the trip, he may have had his reasons all along.
Bilbo Baggins' Diary Entry Dear diary, Today, after having thirteen unexpected guests over at my house I was taken on an adventure. I was only just starting to realize how far this journey would be and how much respect I would lose from my community when we were faced with three nasty trolls. Their names were Bert, Tom and William. They were complete morons. They were also very hungry and thought the dwarves would be perfect for dinner. Thankfully, they had no interest in eating me. Just as the first of the dwarves was about to be cooked, Gandalf made his move. Like me he had noticed that the trolls were not very smart. So when they were not looking he sneaked into the bushes behind them. Then he started teasing them but did it in a way that made the trolls think it was them. Once they were confused and had started fighting with each other, I slipped on my invisibility ring and set the dwarves free. After that Gandalf turned the trolls into stone and we had a lovely dinner. Although it was delicious, it was not a good start to our quest.
That would be 'Ori'
Gandalf is not a human. He is a Maia, which is similar to a lesser god or an angel. Furthermore, there were many humans in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Hobbit. Boromir, Faramir, and Aragorn to name a few. In the Hobbit, there was the Character named Bard.
If it is in the Hobbit, it is to get Bilbo started on his adventure. If it is in the Fellowship of the Ring it is to have the ring returned to the mountain to be destroyed.
Gandalf is a Maia, kind of an angelic spirit. He, naturally incorporeal, has been clothed in the shape of an old man for his mission to Middle-earth. Four other Maia in the shape of old men were sent to Middle Earth as well to help the Free Peoples resist Sauron. They were known as Istari or Wizards. Of the five only Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast are named. Only the fate of Gandalf and Saruman is told.
There is no reference to swords in The Shire in The Hobbit. The only mention that could be attributed to the hobbits is a comment by Gandalf. He said that the swords in this region are all dull, and so he settled on finding a burglar to help the dwarves.
Radagast the Brown was an add in. He was only a brief mention in the books, and was never fleshed out into a character. In the movie, Radagast had a strong resemblance to another book character, Tom Bombadil. Tom Bombadil never made an appearance in The Hobbit.
A Hobbit is not real and are only fictional characters. If they were real they are small humans and what you suggest is slavery. One human does not own another.
Of course he will be in The Hobbit Films. While the events involving the Necromancer are only referred to by Gandalf in the book, the story is being adapted into THREE films. Peter Jackson is drawing from the information in The Hobbit and the Appendicies of The Lord of the Rings to flesh out this part of the story.

Gandalf only gives Thorin the key and the map (they go together) because they are rightfully his( being given to Gandalf by Thorin's relatives).
Out of Thorin and Co., only Thorin, Fili, and Kili die in the Hobbit.
