Why is Emily Procter only has small parts and appears sitting this season?

Because she is pregnant and her pregnancy has not been written into the show. Since it is a crime drama and Emily is not capable of doing action scenes, she is relegated to just scenes in the lab, interrogating suspects or processing evidence.
