Sauske wants to destroy the leaf village because danzo and the higher ups blamed the uchiha for the nine tails fox incident, because the uchiha eyes are the only ones that can control the nine tails. Madara was behind it all but they blamed the clan. The third hokage pleaded with them to spare the uchiha but they would not listen. So they ordered itachi to kill his brotheren so a civil war doesn't explode within the village. Itachi loved the village so much he killed all of his family, but he couldnt kill his little brother sauske.
