You better reread the first parts of the story. The old feud is about the rightful ownership of the land, Georg believes that he has the right to those lands so he doesn't see himself as poaching, so does Ulrich for that matter. Neither of them really has any reasonable explanation of why they hate each other, they're just perpetuating the feud.
