Cato hated Katniss personally because she scored higher than he did. The Career tributes train their whole lives to be in The Hunger Games so they expect a good score. Katniss trained next to none, and she got a better score than he did.

∙ 12y agoKatniss is strong, gets lots of attention for being "the girl on fire," gets the highest score, and is the tribute most likely to beat Cato. He's a career tribute who's been training for the Hunger Games his whole life and doesn't want a girl from District 12 to beat him.
