Barney wanted to shorten Andy's name, as a show of affection, as we all do. The shortening to 'And' is not as 'comfortable' to say as 'Ange'. I have a friend who is called Andy and I call him Ange. (My name is Angie, so it's getting quite confusing!!).
According to Wikipedia, "In the first season, Andy and Barney comment that they are cousins, but this is not mentioned again for the rest of the series. Genetics aside, Barney and "Ange" (as he frequently addresses Andy, a derivation from Knotts' real-life nickname for Griffith) are best friends, having grown up together in Mayberry, and Barney maintains warm relations with Andy's son Opie and his Aunt Bee." Other comments found online maintain the hard G in "Ange" was derived from Andy Griffith's middle initial, claiming Andy's full name was Andrew Jackson Griffith. Wikipedia lists his given name as Andrew Samuel Griffith. It would then seem logical that Barney drew the G from his last name, not any middle name association.
Ellie or as the they often call her on the show "the lady druggist" played on the Andy Griffith Show for one season. She was supposed to be on the show for three seasons but asked for early release.
Call Freddie Cruger and tell him "Barny needs to die!"
She was 6 at Barney and Friends ---- Gomez began her acting career at the age of seven, where she spent her birthday at an open casting call competing with thousands of others for a role in the hit children's television series Barney & Friends.
On the Andy Griffith Show, Barney Fife often referred to Andy Taylor as "Andy" or "Ange." The use of nicknames like "Andy" or "Ange" was a common form of endearment between the two characters and showcased their close friendship and camaraderie. Barney's use of these nicknames added to the comedic dynamic between the characters and highlighted their deep bond as partners in Mayberry's law enforcement.

The man they call Barney!
Andy is usually an abbreviation of 'Andrew'. I wouldn't call my child Andy if they're name was Anthony, I would call them Tony. But that's just me.

flo Jo or some may just call her Joyner
The plot of that Fruity Pebbles commercial is Fred walks to Barney and asks "What's that Barney?" Barney says his invention is called a "More" but it is acutally a mery go round and Barney persuades Fred to ride it while he (Barney) holds his Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles cereal. Fred agrees but while he rides the Merry go Round, Barney tries the pebbles and Fred asks "Why do you call this a ''More''?" Barney says "The 'more' you ride it the 'more' I can eat your pebbles!" and Fred angrily gets off and says "Why you!" and runs after Barney and Barney runs off with the Pebbles.
