Why do the parents of white girls not want them to date Black guys?

They think more black boys get into more trouble than white. This is called prejudice, and it is unfair to all involved. Answer It isn't always true that white parents don't want their sons or daughters dating blacks. I live in Canada and there are many mixed marriages. My best girlfriend is Asian and married to my husband's best friend who is white. My girlfriend who is white and lives in Colorado is married to a black man and they've been happily married for 15 years. We also have another set of friends and she is Swedish and he is black. We see blacks mixed with whites a lot here in British Columbia and don't even think twice about it. We do have some racism, but not as bad as parts of the U.S. There is zero tolerance in Canada for beating up another person of a different culture and also 'gay bashing physically.' Of course parts of the U.S. are going to have racial issues because of their past history during slavery and it's passed onto one generation after the other, but I'm happy to say even though there will always be some racists amongst us good changes are coming rapidly. Blacks are actors, lawyers, doctors, etc. I was brought up by my parents not to be racist and yes, I've dated a black man and also a part Asian man, but we ended up being friends and it had nothing to do with racism. My parents to my brother and I that as long as the person loved us and treated us with the respect we gave them that was all that counted. Answer Many times the parents of white females possess a narrow-minded misconception of the young black male. Is he a thug, will he get my daughter hooked on drugs and what IF they get married? The main fault of this viewpoint is the association of these situations with an individual based on the pigmentation of their skin and negative media stereotypes.

The REALITY of the situation is parents should exhibit the same concern with WHOMEVER their daughter decides to begin a relationship. Another fear the parents hold is the "What will everyone think" mentality. What will the neighbors and other family members think? Will people think our daughter is trash? How will she survive in an interracial relationship? What will people say if they have children? When all is said and done, the daughter's decision to enter into an interracial relationship should be based on her thoughts and happiness and not based on thoughts, concerns, ignorance and prejudice of random individuals. The decision to enter into an interracial relationship should not be made on a whim. Consider whether or not you are mentally strong enough to handle all that is involved. This is the year 2007, and you will STILL be stared at in restaurants, snubbed at banks, ignored in department stores and generally judged to be of lesser intelligence. If you have children, you will be asked if the child is yours, what is the father or mother, and people will stare at your child. Can you dismiss the actions of others and continue to love this person with all your heart? It is not an easy life to live, but if you can handle it, the love can be well worth it.
