They were all sitting around trying to figure out a name for the band when they were young teenagers. Brandon came up with "Spiral Staircase", then Mike Einziger took a dictionary, and just happened to come across the name "Incubus". Being that it was about a Demon who has sex with sleeping woman, they all thought it was cool, and voila.
