Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was one of the greatest Muslim educationists, writers and reformers, was born at Delhi in 1817. Sir Syed pioneered modern education for the Muslim community in India by founding the Muhammedan Anglo-Oriental College, which later developed into the Aligarh Muslim University. His work gave rise to a new generation of Muslim intellectuals and politicians who composed the Aligarh movement to secure the political future of Muslims in India. Battling illnesses and old age, Sir Syed died on March 27, 1898
Sir syed Ahmed Khan was one of the leading figures of Muslim India, and the Revolt of 1857 was the defining moment of his life. He wrote this analysis soon after he witnessed the brutal revenge the British took on Delhi once the Revolt was suppressed. His primary aim was to correct the misconception that the uprising was merely a Muslim conspiracy.
He found the Aligarh movement to improve the relations between British and Muslim ,to increase political awareness among Muslim and to encourage the growth of western education.
