Glenn left the Misfits because he wanted to change his musical direction. In 1983 Danzig started Samhain, which was faster and darker than the Misfits. But before he even had the band Misfits he was in the band DanzigHe didn't start Danzig the band until after Samhain. The first Danzig album release was in 1985 under the label Def American produced by Rick Rubin. Although he still released albums with Samhain up until 1990 with their final release "Final Descent". The Misfits started in 1977 and ran until 1983.
