Kid Nation was not cancelled. The first season ended after 13 episodes. Another season has not been made because of concerns that the show violated child labor laws.
Child Labor laws in New Mexico, where the show was filmed, have changed since the show.. future versions of the show would have to take place in a different state.

What happened to kid nation?
Kid Nation was Taken of CBS because of it "braking" laws. The show is probally not going to be able to go back on air again. One parent of a chiled that was on kid nation got mad because her child got hurt. Maybe write a letter to the company though if you would like it to go back on. Kid Nation was an excellent show that proved to people that kids can make a better world than adults. It deserves to be back on air.
