Gary Clarke is alive and well ... and looks GREAT even though he's in his 70s. We should all look that good when we are his age. I met him in Virginia City, NV where the cast of The Virginian had a reunion. James Drury Roberta Shore and Randy Boone were all there ... all of them friendly, eager to answer questions and just chat.
I think Mr. Clarke said he was currently writing plays and either directing them or producing them in Texas. And I'm sure he's busy with other things. He still has that same "Steve Hill" fun and frolic, and he is very good comedienne. Meeting him was a highlight of the year for me.

Owen Wister is the author of the novel "The Virginian."
You know, I think he does have fans, but he is very private. I met Mr. Clarke at a recent Virginian cast reunion and he is a very nice man. We talked for quite a long time and I learned so much about him and his time on The Virginian. His only regret was to have left that show so early, only after 2 years. My personal opinion is, and I told him, that he MADE show. He was funny, caring and sensitive. I asked him if he ever thought of getting a website, but nothing's happened yet. Maybe you can right him a message and ask him the same.
