Why did Ash yell 'Hands off Pikachu' at Team Rocket in the episode 'Second Time's the Charm' when Pikachu was swimming right next to Ash with Frontier Brain Anabel?

Ash usually yells at Jessie or James to let go of Pikachu when either antagonist is already holding Pikachu while wearing rubber gloves, but in this case, Ash is simply warning Team Rocket to not even approach Pikachu, otherwise TR would eventually get a hold of Pikachu.
