Moony is a word in English and it is used to describe something that looks like the moon. However, it isn't still in use. Still, this is a more standard way for adjectives to be formed in English.

So, the real question is why does "sunny" mean brightly lit with sunlight instead of something that is like the sun? I don't know. Sorry I wasn't more help, D
