The song "You Are So Beautiful" was not written by Joe Cocker himself. It was actually written by Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher. The song was first recorded by Joe Cocker and released in 1974 on his album "I Can Stand a Little Rain." Preston and Fisher co-wrote the song as a soul Ballad, and it has since become one of Cocker's most popular and enduring hits.

William Everett "Billy" Preston and Bruce Fisher are officially credited with writing both the lyrics and music. However, Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys actually wrote it and gave it to Billy Preston as a birthday gift.

You are so Beautiful was written by By Dennis Wilson and Billy Preston. It appeared first on Preston's album, The Kids and Me, in 1974. Jim Price, Joe Cocker's producer, slowed the song down and Cocker released it later that same year in 1974 on his album, I Can Stand a Little Rain.
