Although the great dane is a large powerful dog, the puma weighs as much, and no dog alive can win in a real battle with a big cat that really wants to kill the dog. I found several records of pumas killing hounds, hounds used for puma tracking, so your dane would not have a chance against the puma at all. I found where a leopard killed two rottweilers in India, and the leopard and puma are close in size and strength.
This answer is not accurate. There are many documented cases of Danes and Dogo Argentinos killing large cats. Great Danes have killed many wild predators, to include tigers. Sometimes dying in the process.
Wolf. They have a much stronger predatory instinct, are tougher, bigger, stronger and likely faster than a pitbull, even one that was bred to fight.
