The original voice of Casper the Friendly Ghost was Ron Smith, who lived in Staten Island and eventually Florida. He passed away in 1995. Ron was my uncle, my father's brother. He won Arthur Godfrey's Amatuer hour, and was also the caricature of Bondie the bread boy, for Bond Breads. Ron Smith was an accomplished entertainer, playing piano, guitar, stand up base and the organ. He also had a fine singing voice. In his later years he looked like a double for Roy Clark, and people often thought that he was Mr. Clark when they saw him in person.
