In the 1931 episode "Dogs is Dogs" the character of 'Spud' was played by the late Sherwood Bailey (August 6, 1923 - August 6, 1987) . Nero was the dog's name that 'helped' him into the well .

Little Rascals was a comedy- they were alternately called Our Gang Comedies- and did not normally deal with trapped tots- and similar stuff. On the other hand this type of plot was quite common on the Lockhart-Provost LASSIE series -which was chemically devoid of any comedy- drama was serious- comedy for laughs- rescue attempts are not in the laugh track- and rightfully so.
