The host and in effect M.C. of the program was ( Buffalo) Bob Smith, not to be confused with the perhaps better known western showman- Buffalo Bill Cody.For some odd reason Howdy was banned in out household, but I was allowed to watch most Cartoons, a good deal of science-fiction and such things as Topper, as well as the usual cartoons . I heard the theme song enough, but was never permitted to watch the show. Years later I found out a housemaid who was about my age had the same prohibition when she was a kid- she said her family did not approve/
