I am a Byers and a distant cousin to Jerry. When I was a little girl, I went to Jerry Byers tribute. I have his photo and a niece of mine has a record of his. Jerry Byers was an up and coming star that died of cancer in the 1960's. His wife may still be living. I grew up singing many of his songs, and Three Cheers For the Red White and Blue was a favorite.

A descendant of "William Grier Byers {December 16, 1824 - September 5, 1892}"; Gerald (Jerry) Lee Byers was born November 10, 1933 in Bussey, Marion County, Iowa. He was an extremely talented piano player, composer & singer and a very loving Husband and Father who tragically passed away from cancer in December of 1963 before he could make it big, and he most definitely would have. He was married to one of the most beautiful and kind women you will ever meet, her name is Betty and she is still living in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Jerry Byers had several 45rpm records here are the ones I know of first hand. One was on the "GOLDEN WING" Label: side one, "Red White and Blue" side two, "Bonnie By The Sea" - Another two were on the "Rosie Records" Label: first one being, side one, "Perdido" side two, "Corina, Corina" and the second was, side one, "Loves Been Good to Me" and side two, "Face In The Crowd". He also had a record on "Cardinal" Label, Side one, "Sweet Jenny Lee" and side two, "The Byers Stomp". There were also some larger records closer to "album" size that he recorded. I would be very interested in corresponding with anyone who has information, or anyone who just wants to talk about his music or about any recordings pictures etc... He was my Uncle, my Mother's Brother. I do collect any and all memorabilia. You can email me at: punkinlee1@Yahoo.com
hey- I'm dasha byers, his granddaughter. You can look me up on face book or email me at dasha_byers@hotmail.com :)
My name is Glenda, I am Jerry and Betty Byers' daughter. They had 6 children and I am the second to the youngest. I was only 3 when my dad (Jerry) died, and do not have any memories of my dad. I would love to receive any information or stories of anyone who knew my dad, or possible played in a band with him. I am looking for any memorabilia that is about my dad, or anything that was his. I would like to find the original Red White and Blue record and any clothing or Guitars that were his. There was an original record listed here on E-bay and I didn't get to bid on it in time, but it did not sell, so if anyone has information as to where I could get this, please contact me. My e-mail address is: gpuff86@yahoo.com

I am married to Jerrys son. Jerry was an amazing talent, so sad he died so young.
