His father was known as The Great Prince of the Forest, and doesn't have any name beyond that. He appears near the beginning of the film watching over Bambi's birth, and again near the middle where he takes in Bambi to raise him (which is expanded in the direct-to-video sequel, where he's voiced by Patrick Stewart). At the end of the film he is seen standing next to the adult Bambi as Faline has his children, like when Bambi was born. He's kept a mysterious character throughout the film, but he's a respected and powerful figure in the forest. In the book it's not outright said that it's his father, but it's heavily hinted at in a scene where the two talk. He's described as the oldest and most powerful stag in the forest and is called "the great prince."

They purposefully left out Bambi's fathers name, only ever referring to him in the movies or credits as "The Great Prince".
bambi's dad didnt die bambi's mom died she was shot by a hunter
Bambi"s mother is killed by hunters early on in the film ( one account says about three minutes into the run) Therefore there is no meaningful dialogue between the Big Buck ( who is unnamed) and his Doe. The only female character, who is a love interest for Bambi- is Faline. Sounds like feline, which of course relates to Cats. Hunters definitiely did in Bambi"s mother, not forest fires. There may well be an alternate version, but this is not known to me.
