Kim Carnes Ellingson [b. July 20, 1945]. The American singer-songwriter began her career with The New Christy Minstrels, in 1967. A fellow Minstrel was Kenneth Ray ka Kenny Rogers [b. August 21, 1938], with whom she recorded the country/pop hit Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer, in 1980. Her biggest hit ever came the following year, in 1981, with her interpretation of Bette Davis Eyes. Her rendition was so well-received that even the actress, Ruth Elizabeth ka Bette Davis [April 5, 1908-October 6, 1989], thanked her. In fact, Davis let it be known that the particular version brought appreciation for her acting from an unexpected audience: her grandson, and his generation. Davis also requested a special performance by the singer at a tribute just before the actress's death.
