The song, "Maggie May," was written by Rod Stewartand Martin Quittenton.

Please note: there is also a different song called "Maggie Mae" which has nothing to do with Stewart.

Rod Stewart of England both wrote and recorded Maggie Mae, and he did a great job with it. The lyrics are perfect for a young man who is about to return to college. The rhythm is also very good. At one point, when trying to decide whether or not to return to school, his song says, "Maybe I'll take my dad's cue and make a living playing pool." In short, it's a good song with a great beat and lyrics, written and sung by a very accomplished musician.
