In the probably most famous version, Los Bravos got into the charts with it in 1966.
The song is by Tony Hayes and Steve Wadey.
It has been covered very many times by many different people and groups; there are also numerous other songs (completely unrelated) with similar titles.
The original demo (just a 'rough' with only a piano and a one-track vocal by the writers) was received by a group called The Niteshades from Stevenage, Hertfordshire who put together the now-familiar arrangement with its compelling riff, actually recorded a finished, ready-to-release version for CBS which was recorded at a studio in Bond Street, London.
Owing to a dispute between the producer and a visiting American CBS executive over a complaint from the shoe shop below about the volume of the drums, the master tape never saw the light of day and within four weeks Decca had released Los Bravos' recording in the UK, and as they say - the rest is history.
