Kreacher was originally Sirius Black's house-elf, but upon Sirius's death was granted via his master's will to Harry. He started off sour and mean, but after revealing that he witnessed his beloved master Regulus Black's sacrifice and being granted Regulus's old locket, he became much nicer. He led the house-elves to fight in the Battle of Hogwarts and fought using a kitchen knife. After the battle, Harry expressed the desire to have him bring him a sandwich, implying that Kreacher is now very loyal and warm toward him.
