Rue was the female tribute for District 11 in the 74th Hunger Games. She is a petite girl who is even smaller in size and strength than Katniss. She has short, slightly curly black hair and dark skin. She is a loyal friend and ally to Katniss, and saved her life once. She has the ability to climb trees and to jump from tree to tree noiselessly.
Haymitch sends her a spile and they stick it in the trees after creating a hole so that the precious metal would not be ruined, and water comes out of the tree when positioned at the right spot.
In the first installment of The Hunger Games, Rue was the twelve year old girl tribute for District Eleven. She is later Katniss' nimble ally and friend. When Rue and Katniss set out to distroy the Careers' food Rue is caught and is killed by the boy from District 1. Katniss kills him, and Rue dies while Katniss sings to her. She was her best good friend.
