(((Hi)))

I contacted Pippa Hall and she said she isn't working with the Narnia films anymore. I also asked if she knew anyone else who could help, but she said everyone she knew had moved on. I think Nancy Bishop, Liz Mullane, and Gail Stevens cast, but I'm not sure

That comes down to a variety of factors:

  • Which movies you believe were executed the best, including
  1. How much content was included and excluded in relation to the book
  2. How well the movie content replicated the book content
  3. How well the characters were cast, and how well those roles were played
  4. How good the instruction from the various people involved was
  5. How visually appealing the movie was
  6. How musically appealing the movie was
  • Who directed those movies
  • Who best took into consideration:
  1. The author of the book and her opinion
  2. The above listed (points 1-6)
  3. The required content to make the movie work in relation to previous/later storylines
  • Who was the most involved with the author, including
  1. Who made the most effort to include her in decisions
  2. Who made the most effort to ensure the correct content was left in and out
  • Who's movie/s brought in the best publicity, in
  1. Ticket sales
  2. DVD sales
  3. Highest percentage of good over bad reviews from critics
  4. Highest percentage of good over bad reviews from audiences

Example. If you believe the Prisoner of Azkaban was the best movie, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, and you also believe that he best took into consideration the above listed, was the most involved with the author and brought in the best publicity, then you could say that he was the best director.

However, whilst some of this is determined by statistics, a lot of it is based on your own opinion. it is up to you to decide who the best director is.
