Stephen Flannigan was once considered the "Orphan of Lockerbie" after his entire family was killed when a wing from a Pan Am Boeing 747 fell on their house in the 1988 Lockerbie Bombing above Scotland. He was assembling his sister's present, a new bicycle at a neighbour's house when he saw a fireball engulf his home. Him and his surviving brother, David, received a settlement. In 1993, David died in a hostel in Thailand

In 2000, while walking home from a Pub in Wiltshire, Stephen fell on a railroad track and was killed by a approaching maintenence train.
