He finished his BS Chemistry degree in Ateneo de Davao in 1981, then his law degree in 1987. He also took philosophy in Ateneo de Manila as a Jesuit Pre-novice, but he left after one year, to serve as a science teacher in his town for a while, while studying for his law degree. He is also a law professor teaching political and constitutional law. He writes poems as a form of a hobby. He lives in a peaceful town along the Zamboanga Peninsula in the Island of MIndanao.
