Well, I must say that the "parents" of Melissa Sagemiller are shrouded in mystery. So, while I cannot prove the following, here is my best "guess."

She (Melissa Sagemiller) mostly always lists a version of the facts of her parentage as follows: "Melissa Sagemiller (born June 1, 1974) is an American television and film actress. [ * * * ] Sagemiller was born in Washington, D.C. to a political activist mother and a professional American football player father, who played in the NFL for the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. She attended Georgetown Day School." Wikipedia. She sometimes lists this other fact: "Mother was Jimmy Carter's campaign finance manager." Sagemiller, Biography, IMBD.

In a federal case concerning the non-payment of a phone contract for the Democratic National Committee, there appears this odd quote: "[I]n a memorandum addressed to Donna Sagemiller, a consultant to the Controller of the DNC, described the procedures previously used. (Exhibit 26)." NTA National, Incorporated DNC Services Corporation, 511 F.Supp. 210, 216 (D.D.C. 1981). [Sagemiller was a mere witness in the case.]

Sagemiller is a very uncommon name. There are many Seemillers in Minnesota and the Midwest but near zero "Sagemillers" in any US census. Thus, based on the scarcity of the name, the date of Melissa's (Missy) birth, June 1, 1974, the proximity of a person described as Jimmy Carter's campaign finance manager and the citation in 511 F.Supp. 210, my Jeopardy Game guess is that her mother is named (or, was unless she now has a married name): Donna Sagemiller. Donna appears to have come from north of Atlanta.

The identification of her father takes somewhat of the same sleuthing. However, a professional football player named Charlie Evans, seems to fit the bill. He is know by birth as: "Jack Charles Evans (born January 10, 1948 in Gardena, California) (Charlie Evans) is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the New York Giants [New York Giants (1971-1973)]and Washington Redskins [Washington Redskins (1974)]. He played College Football at the University of Utah and the University of Southern California." Wikipedia.

So, these are speculations and may not be correct. However, we should give a standing ovation to whoever was responsible for gracing the planet with such a talented and stunningly beautiful actress as Melissa Sagemiller. Kudos to the hot summer of 1973.
