I am John Coborn, author of over 90 books on pet keeping. Mainly reptiles and amphibians but also books as diverse as Lovebirds, Goldfish and Mice. Many of my books can be found on Amazon.com

I was born in Darlington UK in 1941 and completed high school at Raine's Foundation Grammar in Stepney, London, in 1957. I left to train as a Laboratory Animal Technician at the Institute of Cancer Research. I joined the British Army in 1961 and served as a Military Hygienist in Germany and the far East including a stint of active service in Borneo during the Indonesian Confrontation.

When I left the army in 1970 I became a reptile curator at the Cotswold Wild Life Park before being promoted to General Curator in 1975. I left there to become Director Of Dudley Zoo in 1980.

In 1982 I took up free lance writing full time. I emigrated to Australia in 1986. My largest book was Atlas of Snakes of the World published in 1990. In 2000 I retired and I live in my house in Nanango, Queensland. My dear wife, who I met in Germany in 1963 sadly passed away in 2008. I share my house with my son, his family and two dogs.
