Graduating from Nordhoff High School six months earlier than his class, he travelled the world for 1 1/2 years. Returning to California he enrolled at the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1965. After one year there he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was killed in action at Quan Tri, Vietnam, two months before his tour of duty was finished. While in Vietnam Geroge served as an unofficial war coresspondent for the UC Santa Cruz student newspaper, City on a Hill Press using the pseudonym, Cpl Calebirnus. He died at age 22.
