Johnnie D. Baker ("Dusty") Baker was an MLB player from 1972 until 1986. He later became a MLB manager as skipper of the San Francisco Giants in 1993. He had previously been the hitting coach and and first base coach. In his first year as manager he led the Giants to 103 wins in the National League. He managed the Giants until 2002 when he became manager of the Chicago Cubs where he managed for three seasons, including the infamous 2003 season where the Cubs were robbed of a sure out (and very likely the National League Championship title with a trip to the World Series against the Boston Red Sox) by a fan who interefered with a foul ball chased down by left fielder Moises Alou along the left field fence.

Dusty Baker's player career included time with the Atlanta Braves (1972-1975, outfield); the Los Angeles Dodgers (1976-1984, outfield); San Francisco Giants ( 1984-1985, outfield); and the Oakland A's ( 1985-1986, outfield and DH).

Dusty Baker currently manages the Cincinnati Reds (2007-).
