It is likely that the name "Luke Skykiller" is an early concept thought of by George Lucas in early drafts, during the production of the first Star Wars film. Thinking of new ideas on a new science fiction story, his first concept depicted a space-themed adventure starring a young teenager named Annikin Starkiller who lives on the moon of Utapau. This later on changed to the story of a boy named Luke Starkiller who lives on the desert world of Utapau. Luke Skykiller may have evolved from the name Luke Starkiller. But then George felt that the term "Skykiller" sounded too menacing for a name of a space hero. In the final draft, as the story is today, the original Star Wars saga tells a story about a young teenage boy named Luke Skywalker, who hails from a planet called Tatooine that orbits a binary system.
