Though Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990) was musically influenced by many players, his greatest influence was his brother Jimmy Vaughan. Jimmy was Stevie's first teacher and the two were always, always close. Vaughan was quoted in Guitar Player Magazine that " My brother Jimmie actually was one of the biggest influences on my playing. He really was the reason why I started to play, watching him and seeing what could be done."

The rest of his musical influences would be

Albert King, Lonnie Mack, Albert Collins, T-Bone Walker, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Reed, and believe it or not, Dick Dale.
