There is no person, ghost, or portrait that guards the Slytherin common room (actually called Slytherin Dungeon). It is hidden behind a wall, and a password must be spoken to the wall in order for it to move aside.

∙ 13y agoWell, the Painting of thew Fat Lady in front of the entry to the dorms/common room, asks for the password. That way the gryffindor place does not need a guard.

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry and Ron entered the common room in disguise.
