Ok, main ones are Naruto+Sakura, Naruto+Hinata, and Sasuke+Sakura.
Also some disgusting people we will refer to as jerks like yaoi which will never happen in Naruto.
Couple A = Naruto+Sakura
I chose these two to explain because they seem to be the biggest debate.
Now people who like A seem to focus more on the fact Naruto loves Sakura. However she has always been more like a friend to him. They have had some romantic and protective parts in the manga but it's not enough to make it an officail couple.
People who like B focus on how Sakura loves Sasuke. Sakura's love is clearly showed in the manga and it almost seems like her entire life is devoted to him.
Now more on the debate between A and B if you want.
Now as of chapter 484 we can see Sakura was about to kill Sasuke, then Sasuke was about to kill her. Many A fans considered this the final nail in the coffin. However Masashi Kishimoto has not confirmed it yet.
A very big part for A was chapter 469, this is where Sakura confessed to Naruto that she loved him. We find out at 474 that she lied. Many B fans considered this to be the final nail in the coffin.
Many people appose the other couple so they throw new couples at them because it's the easiest way.
An example of this was Sasuke+Karin, A fans threw them together to destroy B.
However that couple was destroyed when Sasuke stabbed her to kill danzo.
Some say it's the same as when Sakura tried to kill Sasuke and he tryed to kill her.
Both seemingly shatter the couples all together but until one of them dies or Masashi Kishimoto confirms it, we can't jump to conclusions.
The leading couple is... Just kidding I am not going to pick sides. I would rather focus and the actual story. So this is just a quick briefing on how the couples work.

EDIT: I do not believe that yaoi may never happen. I can give a whole lists of why NaruSasu may happen. It especially shows in the later episodes like in Shippuden. Also just because one likes another doesn't count it as a couple. Masashi Kishimoto has done nothing but show little interests that can simply be an infatuation. The only couple that is finalized is Asuma and Kurenai.
