It's impossible to know for certain which song(s) were the biggest sellers worldwide in any given year, simply because there is no international body that keeps a record of global record sales. All that can be done is to collate country-by-country totals and then produce an average from these. However, on the basis of this, the biggest sellers of '74 were 'Rock Your Baby' by George McCrae (which sold 11 million copies), 'kung Fu Fighting' by Carl Douglas (10 million copies) and 'Seasons In The Sun' by Terry Jacks (10 million copies). Also 'Waterloo' by Abba, which sold 5 million copies. Top seller for '97 was 'Candle In The Wind 1997', released by Elton John in memory of Princess Diana, which sold 37 million copies and remains be biggest-selling single of all time after Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas'. There was also 'My Heart Will Go On' by Celine Dion (from the soundtrack of the film Titanic) which sold 10 million copies, 'Together Again' by Janet Jackson (6 million copies), 'How Do I Live' by LeAnn Rimes (6 million copies) and 'I'll Be Missing You' by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans (5 million copies).
