He doesn't really lose a leg for her. When there is only three tributes left these big mutts come and while Peeta is trying to get up on top of the cornucopia one of the mutts bites him. He is loosing a lot of blood so Katniss tries to save him by making a tourniquet. It doesn't save his leg but it does save his life so no he didn't really lose a leg for her.

In some way, he also does, because earlier in the book while Peeta is still with the careers. He tries to help Katniss get away from the Careers, while she is trying to get the bow and arrows from I think glimmer's dead body. Katniss gets away, and I think Cato sees, or overhears and stabs or cuts Peeta in the upper thigh. But the dogs definitely helped contribute to the loss of Peeta's leg. :(
