Glenn Miller-Chattanooga Choo Choo in the early 1940's Well, actually, it was Opera singer Enrico Caruso. According to the Sony-BMG web site: "In 1904, Caruso signed with the Victor Talking-Machine Company (later RCA Victor). His lifelong association with the company resulted in over 250 recordings. His 1902 recording of "Vesti la giubba" from Leoncavallo's Pagliacci was the first record to sell one-million copies."
