Pre-teens and early teens tend to buy the most music. They are younger than the age that goes and illegally downloads it. They are also very impressionable and will buy (or have their parents buy) whatever is on tv. This is why Pop Music like Justin beener sells so many units. Kids that age don't have any idea about what real music is, they just listen to the radio. Because the large record labels pay ridiculous amounts of money to get their songs on the radio 3 or 4 times an hour, these kids think that the music is "good" because they don't know any better. As they get older they start to develop their own tastes in music and will branch out.
There is no single country that is most known for its music, but some countries are well known for certain styles of music; Germany for Classical Music, England for rock & roll (the home of the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the Who, Elton John, etc.), America for rap, Spain for flamenco guitar, etc.
