It was flimed in and around Calgary AB Canada. Most of the mine seens were done at the base of Mt Yammnisa (sp?) I was on set for a few days when they were fliming. The opening scene was filmed in the town of Exshaw, Alberta. Specifically the south side of the railroad tracks. I suspect the "hill climb" scene was filmed at the quarry belonging to the Cement Manufacturing Plant in Exshaw. The cliff face of Mount Yamnuska (the mine site) can easily be seen from the Trans Canada east bound just as you approach the mountains.
