To make ends meet, Charice joins singing contests in their town and nearby towns. She was so good, she gets turn down because she would just win the contest; amateurs wouldn't have a chance. So Charice would register to join the contests using a different name. I believe the way the story goes,her mom's was a battered wife so her mom took her left her dad. They flew to US to get away.I'm not sure when she posted her YouTube videos if it was after or before she left to the US. Oprah caught her on YouTube, put her on her show and declared her the best singer there is.
