Where did Bradley Nowell learn Spanish- I'm only asking because the Spanish he uses in some of his songs has words that only people from Sonora would normally know?

I'm from Cen-Cal and we use those Spanish words and now I leave in San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora they don't use most of that Spanish that is more chicano spanish and being a fan of Sublime they say he grow up in a Mexican part of Long Beach don't know if that's true but that's what they say.

Spanish is commonly spoken throughout California. California was literally part of Mexico at one point.
