The single quickly became the most requested track on the station, and began garnering interest from radio stations across the country. Through positive word of mouth and persistent fan follow-up, Into The Night eventually established itself once again as the most requested single on radio. Due to the renewed success of his signature song, Benny, signed to Curb Records, recorded an updated version called Into the Night '89. The track appeared on a self-titled release known as "The Blue Album" by his fans. Shortly after the release of his new album, Benny was asked to appear alongside such luminaries as Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Johnny Cash, and K.D. Lang in a tribute to Roy Orbison. Benny Mardones, to this day, remains a superstar in upstate New York. His live shows have become major events and his fan base continues to grow. Because of Benny's popularity in his hometown, Greg Ross (Go-Kart Records) took it upon himself to make a documentary about Benny's life.
