Ice Cube, who starred in the 2005 movie which lent its title to the series, served as an executive producer and occasionally appeared as the brother-in-law of the main character, Terrence. It was Terry Crews, the ex football star turned comic actor (in shows from "Everybody Hates Chris" to the current "Brooklyn Nine-Nine") who took Cube's role, a father trying to keep a blended family afloat.
