I know he has at least one for sure. I actually went to college with her and that was back in the 80's. I actually googled him to try to find out her name because I can't remember her first name. I remember her talking about her brother that was in England at the time and working with Ringo Starr.
Present: Lawrence Gowan, Jy, Tommy Shaw Past: Dennis Deyoung, Glen Burtnik
Styx never really had a "lead singer." There were three main singers- Tommy Shaw James "JY" Young and Dennis DeYoung. Dennis DeYoung was replaced by Lawrence Gowan.
Yes Tommy Shaw is still with Styx.
Because he was demanding, had the most creative control, earned the most money, and limited the amount of dates that the band could tour. And he had been doing this for about 20 yrs. before he was fired. He'd also been fired once before concerning "Babe" (a song that Tommy and JY rebelled against) and then "First Time" which Dennis insisted making the single for the album "Cornerstone" though the band re-hired him later. NO NO NO! It was actually because he told the band that he had an illness that made him sensitive to stage lights (it made him dizzy, and tired) and he asked Styx to postpone the tour, but instead they forged onward with Tommy Shaw being the front-man and replacing Dennis with Lawrence Gowan. In a way, I don't think Tommy ever really cared for Dennis that much because they had such different views in the direction they wanted the band to go in, and he sometimes gave off a malevolent vibe. I really think the Styx tours are a ginormous middle finger to Dennis DeYoung.
His solo material was released under the name Gowan. He was also in a band called Rhinegold.

Yes, Lawrence has been happily married to the lovely Janet for over 20 years.

He's in Styx right now.
Dennis DeYoung (1972-2000) Lawrence Gowan (2000-present) What's in parentheses is the time period they played in, not how long they lived ;)
Styx was about to go on tour again but Dennis reported an illness involving sensitivity to stage lights and he asked them to postpone the tour. After all that had happened between Dennis and the rest of the band involving directional differences with the Kilroy album/tour, and other past issues, they decided to move on with the tour, replacing him with Lawrence Gowan.

yes It must also be noted that the original band Styx split up....Tommy Shaw took the name Styx and went his way after adding Gowan as the lead singer.... and Dennis Deyoung, the architect behind the diversity of the band went his way and tours under the name "Dennis Deyoung and the Music of Styx. I hear both halves are amazing and I know Dennis's side certainly is for a fact.
