Yes. If he doesn't get out on appeal, his current sentence has a parole clause built into it. If the parole board reviews his case and feel he is no longer a threat to himself or others, he may be let out before the end of his sentence and will have to report to a parole officer who will be assigned to him to make sure that he is staying out of trouble.

If he fails his parole board meetings, he will still get out at the end of his sentence because there is nothing that can be done to prevent it (barring bad behavior extending his stay or accidental death or death from old age ending it).
